About the Rochester Film SalonIf you are fed up with scanning the film listings for Rochester and the Medway towns and seeing only mainstream Hollywood fare shown at cold and unwelcoming out-of-town multiplexes...If you have a passion for cinema and would like to meet others who share your enthusiasm for the moving image... If you live in Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood or anywhere else in Kent and beyond and you feel there is something missing in the social and cultural calendar... And you'd like to have something to do in the evenings other than going to the pub - not that going to the pub is a bad thing... Then Rochester Film Salon is for you! Dreamed up by a disparate bunch of Rochester residents who share both a passion for the Seventh Art and a frustration at the local non-pub entertainment on offer, the idea behind the Salon is to offer up more than just a film screening, but also to provide a springboard for debate, chat and conviviality. With specially selected guest speakers after each film there will be ample opportunity to discover more about the world of film and express your views in a friendly and welcoming environment. The venue at Rochester Independent College's Gainsborough Conference Centre has state-of-the-art screening facilities with Dolby7.1 surround sound, and a bar! We look forward to meeting you all very soon!
